Christian Brother Donald Mouton, FSC, former president of the College of Santa Fe, discussed the Book of Revelation, using The New American Bible for reference. This version of the Bible provides a good translation of both the Hebrew and Greek, as closely as possible. The New American Bible, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Church, is a collaboration across many denominations of scholars working together, both Christian and Jewish. There is an interesting discussion about the new translations of the Bible and how this inter-faith cooperation has improved the overall translation of Scripture as well as the history of translations and how we have gotten to today’s current version.
The symbology within The Book of Revelation is discussed at length in this fascinating conversation between Br. Don and Bill O’Donnell, host/producer of Spirituality TV.

Brother Donald Mouton, FSC, past president of the College of Santa Fe, discusses the role of the de la Salle Christian Brothers in New Mexico. The College of Santa Fe was originally founded by the Christian Brothers of New Mexico under the La Salle tradition of education, Brothers of the Christian Schools. Brother Don was president from 1982-1987. Br. Don also discusses his life as a Christian Brother. This is Part One of Brother Don’s interview.
Brother Don explains that St. Jean-Baptiste de la Salle gathered young men who would live a good, Christian life and sought to teach the underprivileged youth of that time. Taught in groups, they would teach a large diversity of subjects including practical skills for living in the world.

Over the years, Bill O’Donnel, host/producer of Spirituality TV on Santa Fe’s Community Television Station, Channel 16 on the Santa Fe Cable Television Network, has made it his goal to interview as many Christian Brothers of New Mexico as possible. The Christian Brothers in New Mexico are referred to as the de la Salle Christian Brothers, tracing their lineage back to France and the influence of St. Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, founder of Fratres Scholarum Christianarum (FSC) – thus the suffix, FSC, appended after the name of each Christian Brother. This brotherhood has been devoted to the teaching of Christ and academia ever since.
