……..To My Beloved at the Cathedral Basilica and Cristo Rey ….GREETINGS!….Besides the amazing churches great classes and wonderful food here in Rome Ive been blessed to get to know the priests who are here on sabbatical with me.They are truly an impressive bunch ranging in age from 46-70.There are military chaplains seminary professors chancery officials principals of Catholic High Schools and even some simple pastors like me.They have been ordained anywhere from 11 years to 45 years on March 19 yours truly will have been a priest for 35 years! …..Each of these men of God have their own stories to tell some of it very inspiring and some of it very painful as they have to experience that carrying the cross behind Jesus is often not an easy or pleasant thing.Through it all everyone to a man does not regret their lives as priests and they have a great love for their people as do I.As much as anything I have experienced here they have been an inspiration to me.In our daily masses and prayers I remember all of you…..Before I left I made arrangements with Bishop Arturo Tafoya the retired Bishop of Pueblo Colorado to preach a Lenten Mission for us.It will be starting the week of March 20.Please plan to attend and deepen your spiritual life.He is a kind and humble man and a good speaker.Welcome him with open arms on my behalf.
